Editorial Style

  • Articles and videos should focus on larger issues related to food production, sustainability, food safety, etc. We are less interested in articles about a company’s new product, unless it is exceptionally innovative.
  • The content should be well-researched and include sources and stats to support overall themes and ideas.
  • The tone should be conversational and not overly technical or dry. Let your passion for the topic shine through!
  • As a general rule, articles should be 500-1000 words.
  • Titles for posts should use sentence case.
  • Include hyperlinks to research, stats or other articles referenced in post. Do not hyperlink to a company website.

  • Videos should be between 2-5 minutes in length.
  • The content of your video is original. The video should not infringe on the copyrights, trade secrets or other intellectual property of any other person.
  • We prefer to upload submissions to the Picked to Plate vimeo page, credits & tags will be given to contributor.
  • A Picked to Plate logo bump should be added at the beginning or end of each submitted video.
  • We would prefer to receive the highest quality export. Example:
    • Format: HD, 1080p
    • Codecs: Apple Pro Res 422 HQ / LT
    • Audio: Stereo
    • Data Rate: 50 mbit/sec
  • We prefer videos that are shot with a cinematic look.
  • Audio must be clean and clear.
